There's a lot of pressure these days on parents, and a big factor is keeping kids entertained. When you're on a budget, you can't just trot off to an amusement park or party center. The good news? You don't need to do that to make kids happy, especially after winter finally drops its icy hold on your neighborhood.
Rediscover the joys of a simple trip to a local playground. My kids love a video game binge (and I admit to my shame that in the winter, that can be standard), but if I mention a trip to the park, it's as if said games didn't exist. If the sun is shining, they want to be in it, and the energy is spectacular.
It's the ideal time to meet new kids in our neighborhood, and reconnect. My son says it's so nice to get to be around so many kids, instead of just his little sister. She'd probably take offense at that, but I won't tell her.
I myself enjoy the fresh air, and watching them run around with wide grins and hearing shouts of "Mom, look at me!". A nice side effect is that they usually go to bed without argument after all that running, and sleep very well, which is a treat for any Mom.
And all you need to do to get it is open your front door and step out into the sun. Nothing out of pocket, but the memories, fun, antics and enjoyment are beyond measure.

My kids are all teenagers, but we still love our local park. It is a great place to walk or kick a soccer ball around.
