Andrea Bocelli's New Album "Cinema": Celluloid Dreams With a Beautiful Twist!

I've been a fan of musicals and the amazing songs that go with them since I was a child, and who doesn't love movies? So I was very pleased to be given the opportunity to review Andrea Bocelli's new album, Cinema.

Cinema  is a collection of favorite tunes from popular movies, including the film adaptations of musicals. As you can imagine, it's the perfect showcase for an artist like Bocelli, who has performed for popes, U.S. Presidents, and royal families all over the world, and even has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. If that gives you heightened expectations, don't worry...you will not be disappointed.

Curious? This is what you'll hear:
1) MARIA from ‘West Side Story’
2) LA CHANSON DE LARA from ‘Doctor Zhivago’
3) MOON RIVER from ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’
4) E PIU' TI PENSO, duet with Ariana Grande from ‘Once Upon a Time in America /Malèna’
5) BE MY LOVE from ‘The Toast of New Orleans’
6) THE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT from ‘The Phantom of the Opera’
7) BRUCIA LA TERRA from ‘The Godfather’
8) POR UNA CABEZA from ‘Scent of a Woman’
9) NO LLORES POR MÍ ARGENTINA, duet with Nicole Scherzinger from ‘Evita’
10) L'AMORE È UNA COSA MERAVIGLIOSA from ‘Love is a Many Splendored Thing’
11) MI MANCHERAI from ‘Il Postino’
12) CHEEK TO CHEEK, duet with Veronica Berti from ‘Top Hat’
13) SORRIDI AMORE VAI from ‘La vita è bella’
14) HISTORIA DE AMOR from ‘Love Story’
15) OL' MAN RIVER from ‘Show Boat’
16) NELLE TUE MANI (NOW WE ARE FREE) from ‘Gladiator’

As you can see, it's an entertaining mix that keeps surprising you with each new track. As a whole, I found the album both relaxing and invigorating. Bocelli and guests' beautiful tones evoke the emotions the original songs call for, and then some. His voice is both powerful and ageless, and the tone never wavers in any way.

While I enjoyed the entire experience, I did find some standouts for my personal taste. "The Music of the Night" is a longtime favorite, and this rendition added a whole new dimension to it. While I enjoyed the nod to the younger generation with "E Piu' Ti Penso" ( we do love Ariana Grande) my favorite duet was another favorite, "No Llores Por Mi Argentina". The original gave me chills; Bocelli and Nicole Scherzinger's version gave me full-out shivers. And you can't ignore the quirky fun of "Cheek to Cheek" for sure. I also thought his version of "Moon River" gave new life to an old standby.
