I am always looking for a way to please my sweet tooth while still holding on to the healthier aspect. It usually seems like you have to trade one for the other, though. Until my latest sampling opportunity from Moms Meet, that is...NoGii High Protein Peanut Butter and Chocolate Bars!
Looks great, doesn't it? Well, they taste even better. For real. To quote my teen when she tasted it, "What the heck IS this?" That's a positive reaction, by the way. It is as tasty as any other junk-food type bar, but it's gluten-free, non-GMO, and contains no trans fat or high-fructose corn syrup. What does it have? Try 20 grams of protein with only 8 grams of fat and 9 grams of sugar, and 230 calories. It's a nice big bar, too.
But this wasn't the only offering for my meeting. Behold.
Next in line was Cookies and Cream. That one has 29 grams of protein, but more sugar (24 grams) and fat (14 grams). It's bigger than the first one, though, and denser, but still excellent flavor. The creamy coating is just lovely.
And for those who participate, there are even paleo-friendly bars!
These are a different style, kind of like fruit snacks for grownups, and have an awesome fresh flavor. I got a serious mango kick from it, and the nuts add a great texture. The ingredients list does read truly paleo: just dried fruit, honey and nuts.
Next, the smaller sized and aptly named Chocolate Caramel Bliss.
These are the minis, weighing in at 120 calories, 7 grams of protein, 4.5 grams of fat, and 8 grams of sugar. And for the record, they could replace the most bad-for-you candy bar without a hitch. SO good, so very good.
Finally, the protein powder.
I got to try Cocoa Chocolate and Vanilla Bean, and made up some to share. Even mixed with water, they're nice and creamy, with an almond milk sort of consistency, and rich flavor without the chalky issue some have. I liked the Vanilla Bean best, but that's sort of how I roll. They're at 170 Calories, 20 grams protein, 5 grams of sugar and 3grams of fat. A bonus: 7 grams of fiber.
Long story short (too late) these are some seriously delish protein products, and I recommend them highly to anyone looking to up the healthy while keeping the yummy.
