Behold, the latest breakfast beauty from the genius that is General Mills: Fiber One Protein Cereal, in Cranberry Almond and Maple Brown Sugar flavors. I was one of the lucky ones chosen to try it out.
First off, the Cranberry Almond flavor. The first thing you notice when you open the box is a lovely fruity scent. It's so noticeable that you wonder if you opened a box of kid's cereal by mistake. But no, that's real dried cranberries you smell.
Out of the two, this was my favorite. It's sweet, hearty, and has a great crunch. The flavor reminds me of a great trail mix, both nutty and sweet, with that fabulous cranberry snap.
Now, the Maple and Brown Sugar:
I'm not a maple fan, but this I liked. It reminded me of a bread pudding, with a delicate flavor of both maple sugar and cinnamon.
My son came up, caught a whiff, and said, "That smells like pancakes. I like pancakes. Can I have some?"
Of course I was willing to share. He loved it. He was so intent, I could barely get him to even glance up.
The true test, however, was baby sister. She always wants what she sees big brother with, but it often ends with me tossing it out.
Not this time.
I have found this to not only be a fabulous breakfast for the whole family, but the perfect snack as well. I especially like it for my late evening snack, as I prefer a high protein item. I also love it over Greek yogurt, which also adds to my protein punch. The best part is that it's very filling, so it's easy to stay with the recommended serving size. I consider it a great addition to my cereal fan page.

I received free product from General Mills and BzzAgent in exchange for my review. My opinions are my own.
